Coming up fast on Friday November 2nd, our good friends at Into The Woods will host Mark Flash of Underground Resistance. Mark is a skillfully versatile DJ and producer who is currently performing live with Mad Mike Banks as Depth Charge. Check the video below from a recent performance at Funkhaus in Berlin! DJ Dex and Esteban Adame will perform a B2B DJ set as “El Coyote”. Esteban has had a great year following up last year’s El Coyote release on Yaxteq with releases on esteemed labels Jealous God (as Frequencia), Dolly and Mister Saturday Night out of NYC. DJ Dex aka Nomadico has just released the digital LP “The Code Switcha” available via the Yaxteq shop here and coming soon on VINYL via fine record shops worldwide.
Also warming up will be Maheras aka Jimmy Maheras who was an attendee at Claude Young’s Yaxteq Lab a couple of years ago.
I’ve uploaded the recording of my set at The Rex Club in Paris on April 1st, 2016. It was an incredible “UR night” with Waajeed, Timeline and Mark Flash all doing amazing sets. This Sunday August 25th, I’ll be DJing at “Burn The Elastic” just outside of Downtown L.A. at Vista Hermosa Natural Park. I’ll be opening for the one and only DJ Steve Loria. Before joining Underground Resistance, before learning anything about an MPC or getting my head around chord inversions, I learned about the craft of DJing from Steve Loria. So, yes, it’s an honor to play with the “West Coast Legend”. He’s been known for playing 8 hour sets and dropping everything from deep vocal house tracks to dark tribal stompers and funky disco cut ups. He’s the first person I ever heard play “Electric Shock” by Dan Bell. His crates are DEEEEP! Check out part of a set of his on Soundcloud at the bottom of this post!!
The park is on First Street west of the 110 (Harbor Freeway) between Beaudry and Glendale Blvd. If you’re in L.A. please stop by and say wassup!

Apologies for my slacking on posting to my own blog the past couple of months! I’ve been busy in the studio finishing music for my next Underground Resistance release. Catalog number UR-091, the “Yaxteq EP”, is now being mastered and will be released by the end of this summer!! In the meantime enjoy this recently re-posted mix by my good friends at “Bottom Floor” Los Angeles. It’s a 2 hour set of deeper Techno and House music, including everything from Jeff Mills to Dennis Ferrer, DJ Qu, a Nina Simone remix, Francois Dubois and El Coyote! Mixed on 2 Technics 1200 turntables, 1 CDJ and a Pioneer mixer.
“Listening back to this interview 13 years later, I can hear in my own voice how hard I’m trying to keep my cool and not gush over the fact that I’m meeting “Magic” Juan Atkins, the Godfather of Detroit Techno, the Originator! My favorite part is his description of driving in the dark to find his own sound. It’s actually one of the statements that stuck with me over the years. If you’re not searching for the unknown within the realm of what is supposed to be experimental music, then what is the real point? Thanks Juan!
This interview was recorded months before the first Detroit Electronic Music Festival, a full 2 years before I would move to Detroit and join Underground Resistance and nearly 9 years before I would be the opening DJ for Juan at a gig in London in November 2008. As for the DJ set, it’s got what you should expect; Kraftwerk, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Juan’s own productions, a Carl Craig remix, Robert Hood, some UK Techno and cut-up disco house tracks. It’s a multi-dimensional, diverse dancefloor set. I wish I had the complete tracklisting!
These days Juan is actively touring as Model 500 live with Underground Resistance members Mad Mike Banks, DJ Skurge and Mark Taylor forming his band. An intense show that covers early Cybotron, the Metroplex catalog and brand new tunes recently released on R&S Records. For booking Juan Atkins please contact email@example.com” – Dan “Dex” Caballero aka Nomadico (Original dublab DJ & Underground Resistance member)
