Esteban Adame aka Frequencia drops the track list for an intergalactic backyard party with the Chicano Boombox EP. Esteban’s music career started as a DJ in L.A.’s East Side backyard party scene, he then stepped up his musical game by collecting gear and studying the piano. His evolution into a professional musician led him to gigs around L.A.’s jazz and salsa scenes. But he never lost his love for DJ culture and electronic music and that led him to join Mad Mike’s Galaxy 2 Galaxy band through his mutual friendships with UR’s Santiago Salazar and Yaxteq’s own DJ Dex. He’s released music on esteemed labels such as Underground Quality, Dolly, Mister Saturday Night, EPM, Jealous God and more. He also collaborates with DJ Dex as El Coyote.
“Rush The Floor” makes you want to do just that with its hypnotic lead synth and a breakdown that will leave the dancefloor wanting more. “Deep Function” flexes musical chops via soulful chords and a perfectly timed solo all riding over a thumping house beat. “Still Here” recalls classic Detroit Techno methodology as a reminder to keep the inspiration flowing. The EP is rounded out with “The Promise” a driving yet euphoric track perfect for watching the sunrise after a long night.
Yaxteq is proud to announce the digital release of the Ritmos EP. Los Angeles via Honduras producer Roberto Espinosa has channeled years of experience as a DJ, promoter and music producer into this latest project. The Ritmos EP features the magic touch of Detroit keyboardist Jon Dixon on “Finding Who You Are”. The second track “Starseed” takes us on an abstract journey where polyrhythms and moody chords collide. “Words of Fire” finds the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry contributing vocals to a primal body mover with it’s fusion of original dub riddims and style over a 4/4 floor filler. Finally, Yaxteq’s own Nomadico strips down “Words of Fire” for a retro-futuristic Dub Techno remix.
Yaxteq is also proud to welcome the visual talents of Alex “Isimo!” Schroeder to the label. His hyperrealistic illustration of Lee “Scratch” Perry perfectly visualizes the music found on the release.
The digital release is now available in the Yaxteq digital shop here!
I first became familiar with Xavier De Enciso back in my early L.A. rave daze. He was a regular at many events around Southern California. See photo below circa mid-1990’s L.A. Somehow we never met during that time.
I left L.A. in 2002 for Detroit to join the Submerge and Underground Resistance crew, then moved to NYC for quite a while, got married, etc. Fast forward to my return to Los Angeles in 2011 and I ended up at a Lovefix party DJing back to back with Esteban Adame. Lovefix was Xavier’s current project and it was a perfect fit for my more eclectic style. He’s been key to my re-introduction to Los Angeles, so ever since I’ve been keeping up with his events and music production.
Official Yaxteq announcement! The “Code Switcha” album is now being pressed at Archer Record Pressing in Detroit and is expected to start shipping worldwide in November.
If you haven’t already please have a listen via SoundCloud below. Once again huge thanks to our featured visual artists; Howard Davy for his design of the Nomadico mascot (yuru-chara) and Chaz Bojorquez for his amazing rendering of the “Nomadico” lettering in his iconic style.
DJ Dex aka Nomadico has written and produced 10 new unreleased tracks for this double LP “The Code Switcha”.
It features a range of tempos and sonic dynamics; from the slow burns of “RTD 60” and “909 Soto Street” to the full
on energy of “Machine Learning for Homeboy” and “HustLA”. There are also electro funk tracks like “Still Cruisin”,
“Radio 3031323” and “Backyard Trippin”. Meanwhile, the moods and textures of “Introversion”, “Innermission” and
“Staring Problem” are for deep listening. All of these are fused together by atmospheric pads, touches of acid and a
veteran DJ’s sense of rhythm and timing.

It was a long hot summer in L.A. but towards the end my family and I got away to Detroit for a few days to visit family and friends. The Yaxteq studio also needed some serious electrical repairs so production was on hold. As a result of all this, it’s been quiet around here. But there’s now plenty of news to report so here we go!!
My Dublab appearance will be a nice preview of my performance at the Strawberry Fields Festival in Australia (November 17th-20th). Myself and DJ Skurge will be performing as the Underground Resistance Assault Squad. The full line-up is available here: http://www.strawberry-fields.com.au/music/
As a bonus, we’ll be kicking things off with a pre-party on Friday November 11th in Melbourne before heading out to the ‘bush’ for the festival. Check out the flyer below. Thanks for your time and reading this far into the post!! ; )

Happy 2015 friends. I’m proud to announce the beginning of my new project: Yaxteq. The Yaxteq sound will be the foundation and theme for various experiments all under the Yaxteq concept. Yaxche x Techno = Yaxteq. The first release will be available on vinyl exclusively from Submerge in Detroit for the first few months of 2015. Worldwide distribution will follow shortly via both vinyl and digital outlets.

Check out my latest music chart at Juno Download. I’ve included my remix for Gavrom on the UK’s Bullet:Dodge Recordings. “Chordilias” Nomadico Remix was released Monday December 15th, 2014. The remix sets the theme for the chart with moody, ethereal soundscapes and brooding beats. Enjoy and here’s to the Winter Solstice.
